Description
The Model 1881 was the last variation of Vetterli before the adoption of the Schmidt design at the end of the decade. It was very similar to the Model 1878 with the exception of a redesigned trigger mechanism that provided a smoother action. The side of the receiver is stamped with the M.78 but the rear sight and the trigger denotes it as the 78/81. The new model 1881 quadrant rear sight was installed and was calibrated for 1,600 meters. This Rifle is missing the cleaning rod. But overall quality is at NRA Milsurp “Very Good” The stock is in great condition with no cracks or repairs. The bore is still in good condition with strong lands and grooves.
