History

One of the first nations to adopt the FN FAL pattern rifle was Israel. Israel was ahead of many nations when selecting this rifle and made their first purchase in 1955. The Suez crisis in 1956 delayed the rifles. The very first rifles were made by FN in Belgium and would later transition to IMI in Israel who produced all the parts except for the receivers and barrel blanks. FN had licensed production of the IMI Uzi so it was an even relationship. These rifles had many early generation FN FAL features, and are pretty exclusive to the Israeli pattern rifles. Israel used the FAL through the Yom Kippur War in 1973 and would eventually replace the FALs to their own produced rifle the Galil.

Israel adopted two variations of the FAL. The light and heavy barrel version. Each would surve their own role and use the same 20 round magazines which also were made in Israel.

Condition

Very Good.

Appears to have everything but the barrel, magazine, and upper receiver.

Surface wear, patina, cosmoline present: The kit should clean nicely and serve a good build set or replacement parts for your existing FAL or SA58.

We only could make out serial numbers on the bolt carrier. Other parts may not have been serialized but the wear is even so these were likely the original parts before de-mill.

This kit appears to have been made in Belgium by FN and not IMI Israel as their are Belgium proof marks and the receiver stub says Belgium. This would be an early contract build before IMI began making these rifles themselves.
