This Ishapore Model 2A chambered in 7.62x51mm NATO / .308 was made in India in 1964 by R.F.I. (Rifle Factory Ishapore). This rifle appears to have almost all matching numbers as the Receiver, Bolt, Rear Sight, and Front bayonet post have the same number. Unfortunately the magazine does NOT match.
This rifle is in good condition. The wood of the stock and hand guard shows no signs of cracking or splitting. There are a few small dings and gouges common for surplus of this age. The finish of the wood is a deep reddish brown which shows only minor wear. There is some blackening towards the muzzle.
The finish on the metal is the original glossy black enamel that was very thickly applied. Finish ranges from 95% down to 25% on the various parts. The most finish loss is on the bolt where it is almost all gone. The front bayonet post and a few spots on the receiver also show substantial loss as does the magazine.
The bore is very good, 4/5, shiny with solid rifling and only minor abrasion wear. The bolt is good and bolt face very clean with minor wear. The receiver action is good and mechanically functions as it should as do the trigger and safety. This rifle has NOT been test fired by us.
All hardware (screws, sling mounts, etc) appears present. This rifle does come with a canvas sling which may not be original to rifle.
