Surplus vintage Greek military rifle crate. This rifle crate was likely used to transport M1 Garand, P14/Mauser, and or G3 rifles. We think the M1 is the most likely candidate as the rifle crate had no dividers or spacers, this would be common for M1 Garand rifles sent by the U.S. as aid during and after WWII. It very well could have been for Enfield or Mauser rifles but given the condition of the box we do not think it is as that would indicate rifles used earlier in the war but the crate looks too good to be a true war time crate. It very well could have been a G3 crate as well given “no. 3” but that assumes the Greeks would use the same naming convention the Germans used.
