This Italian Carcano Model 1891 (Fucile Modello 1891) Rifle in 6.5x52mm Carcano caliber was made in 1917. This is the standard rifle with a barrel length of 30.7 inches and an overall length of 50.7 inches
.
This rifle is in fair to good condition. The wood shows some only a few minor dings and no splitting or cracking. The original finish has been painted over black. The paint shows wear with white spots appearing throughout.
The finish on the barrel is about 60% with wear and patina. The receiver shows wear, rust stains, and spots of active rust. The rear sight shows rust especially under the flip up leaf. The bolt has some rust staining but a surprisingly clean bolt face. The inside of the magazine has moderate active rust. The bore is fair with distinct rifling but substantial fouling build up and pitting
All parts (screws, swivels, etc) appear present except the cleaning rod is missing. Mechanically this rifle functions as it should. This has not been test fired by us.
Overall this would make a fantastic candidate for restoration or just enjoy as a shooter.
