US Made SIG 556 also known as the “SG556”. This SIG556 comes with a Double Star ACE side folding stock, very similar to an FAL Para Stock. This also comes with a set of flip up sights along with a Lancer L5 30-RD Ar15 STANAG magazine. The magazine may need to be removed or modified to be compliant if you live in a restricted state. The SIG556 was SIG Sauer, also known as SIG USA and originally SIGARMS way of bringing a mostly domestically produced 55X style rifle into the US domestic and later law enforcement markets for a significantly more affordable price than the original produced Swiss 55X firearms. The SIG556 was introduced in the late 2000’s around 2007/08. Many suggest SIG made the rifle a bit “too” American with its first version launching with a buffer tube rear section for AR-15 stocks and its machined aluminum lower for AR-15 STANAG magazines. This would be one way SIG cut down on cost as the STANAG magazine is very common and affordable in the USA along with the buffer tube system. Originally the rifle received mixed reviews but the majority of complaints were due to the appearance and styling of the rifle. Eventually SIGARMS who would later become SIG Sauer USA would release more generations and make the firearm look more elegant and like its original Swiss version. The GEN-2 was a step in this direction along with the most influential and iconic version of the SIG556 the 556-SWAT and the final 551-A1 which was a pretty close American clone to the SG551 of Switzerland. The original SIG556 would also feature a 7.62×39 model the SIg556R and would later be phased out for an attempt to modernize the platform with the SIG 556XI.

The case deflector shows very low signs of wear and when we looked down the barrel. The serial number has a generation JS indicating it is of the first production. We can also tell this is an early production because of the lower utilizing the ar15 buffer tube adapter, in this case this one is fitted with a buffer to ACE adapter, along with the older “Shark” style handguard that the first gens had. The bolt and bolt face look good with no unusual wear and the action still feels smooth like a SIG.
