History
The Sturmgewher 58 was produced by Steyr Daimler-Puch now known as Steyr Manlicher. This was Austria’s adoption of the FN FAL. 20,000 were produced in Belgium by FN Herstal and the rest were produced in Austria. The StG58 beat out the Spanish CETME and American Armalite AR-10 for their .308 battle rifle.
