1926 produced Remington Model 51 pistol chambered in.380 ACP

The Remington Model 51 pistol is a small pocket carry pistol designed and patented by John Pedersen and manufactured through Remington from 1918 until 1926. The pistol was designed for the American civilian market in both .32ACP and .380ACP. Small numbers of pistols were assembled with remaining parts in the 1930s. The Remington 51 is described as one of the best feeling and pointing pistols during its time, and the best American made pistol often being compared to the German Luger.

A tall tail exists that the stock market crash of 1929 hurt Remington significantly and ended production on this pistol since many people could no longer afford to buy handguns. The Remington 51 itself was a more costly gun than the alternatives at the time. Though this theory is not proven.

No US Government agency or military adopted the pistol but the Navy did suggest a model in .45ACP this would lead to the M53 model in the 45ACP. However that model never came to be. In 2014 Remington sort of brought the design back as the R51 chambered in 9mm Luger with a polymer frame and some more modernization but it never took off like the original did, and was not built to the same quality either. The Model 51 is one of the finest American pistols ever produced.

Excellent Condition this Remington is used but feels nearly new. The action is still nice and strong, we note that the original bluing finish is bout 95% intact with minimal wear. The grip panels look great with no damage to report and the bore looks nice and shiny with good rifling. Includes a black leather holster
