Description

This Polish Wz.48 (WZ-48) Training rifle was made in Radom Poland in 1954. These rifles were intended for new recruits and students prior to entering service. Though originally based on a Mauser design it was changed to more closely resemble the Mosin Nagant M44 after WWII. This is a single shot, .22LR rifle. The barrel is 24 ¾ inch long. Overall length is 44 ½ inches.

This rifle is in very good condition. All numbers appear matching. The wood stock and hand guard finish is excellent with only minor wear. The wood shows no splits or cracks but does have a few minor dings here and there. The finish on the receiver and barrel is very good showing only minor wear. Most finish loss is seen at the muzzle and on the hand guard caps. The barrel does have some scratches especially at the bottom near the muzzle. Some scratching is also seen on the top of the receiver.

The inside receiver is very clean with minimal wear. The bolt face shows only the slightest hint of wear/grime. The bore is very good, 3/5, with solid rifling and no apparent signs of pitting and only minimal abrasion wear. The action is extremely smooth and all parts function mechanically as they should. This rifle has NOT been test fired by us.

This rifle comes with its original import box and manual. The box has a hole from the charging handle.

Overall this is a great example of the Polish Wz.48. This rifle would fit in nicely for the Polish or Cold War collector or to enjoy as a quality plinker.
