History
China would go on to produce their own Tokarev pattern pistol as the Type 54. The type 54 was an improved version of their Type 51 which was a TT33 copy produced after the Korean War. Both of these pistols would be chambered in the original 7.62x25mm Tokarev round.  Later the Chinese would go on to produce these pistols in 9x19mm Luger for commercial sales. The first model would be the Type 213. This would feature a frame safety which was never a thing on Soviet or Warsaw pattern TT’s  The grips would be a different shape and the magazine stamping would also be different. Later China would go on to produce the 213A which had a 14 round magazine and finally the 213B which featured a full size wrap around grip for better feel.
Condition
Used – Excellent condition: The Norinco model 213 for sale is the pistol pictured. This 213 is in great shape for its age. This Norinco was imported by B West imports during their time in Tucson Arizona. This is the same B West that started life in Los Angeles California imported Chinese SKS and AK rifles in the 1980’s. B West would stay in this location until 2001 where they would close their doors for sure. This pistol includes a vibrant green colored boxed along with an original manual (with parts diagram) a cleaning rod still in original packaging and a spare magazine (two mags will ship). The 213 is a Tokarev pattern pistol and this example is in great shape. The gun itself was made by the State Factory 66 which is located in Heilongjiang Province in Northeast China. This factory is also famous for producing some of the best SKS and Type 56 Kalashnikov rifles ever for Norinco.
We believe this gun to have been produced in the 1990’s. Commercial guns like the 213 do not have production dates or secret codes like military guns to find an exact date. We know it was likely the 1990s as B West moved to Arizona during this time. The B West internal serial number is low so possibly the early 1990s when they re-opened.
The pistol itself has a majority of its finish intact. It is a blued finish with minor scratches and surface wear. The action and slide feel very strong as if the pistol was not fired much, this would explain why the original box is intact along with the cleaning rod and magazine still being in the original wrap. The barrel looked good we noted nice sharp rifling and a clean bore with minor carbon or copper fouling which should clean easily. The bakelite grips are intact.
The box is fairly worn as the packaging was likely not intended to last this long, it is still in shape but a thin paper box. Some small trips and breaks in the packaging but it is intact and would still make a great collectors set.
Interestingly B West serialized this gun with their own internal number. The magazine and frame are matching Chinese S/Ns the slide and barrel appear unmarked. This Tokarev did ship with an original frame safety.
