This Swiss Model 1889 bayonet made by Maschinenfabrik Bern is in very good condition. The serial number matches to Schmidt Rubin Model 1889 rifles in 1892.
This bayonet is in very good condition. The blade edge is clean with an excellent point and no dings or rolling. There is some very minor rust spot staining as well as some scratching and minor wear. The fuller shows minor staining on one side lower toward grip and minor wear and minor abrasion on the other side. The guard is good but has some rust spotting most prevalent on the sides and bottom. The grip is good with no cracks in the wood and very minor scratching. The pommel has wear and minor rust staining
This bayonet comes with a scabbard and frog. The scabbard is fair with much finish loss and rust spotting. The leather and buckle are good with moderate wear but the buckle strap is curling and somewhat brittle. The frog is good with moderate wear. The stitching is all intact, the rivets solid, but there is a minor tear above one of the rivets.
