This Ishapore Model 2A1 chambered in 7.62x51mm NATO / .308 was made in India in 1965 by R.F.I. (Rifle Factory Ishapore). This rifle appears to have all matching numbers as the Receiver, Bolt, Rear Sight, Front bayonet post, and Magazine have the same number.
This rifle is in excellent condition. The wood of the stock and hand guard shows no signs of cracking or splitting. There are a few small dings and gouges here and there and one very well done sign of repair on the bottom stock forward of the receiver. The finish of the wood is very smooth, most likely from refinishing as these stocks were repurposed from existing No 1 Mrk IIIs. The color is very rich throughout with only slight blackening behind the receiver.
The finish on most of the metal is at about 95% with only minor wear seen. Greatest finish loss is seen on front hand guard cap and especially on the bolt which is at 50%. There is very minor rust and copper at the muzzle on the top of bayonet post. There are no other signs of rust.
The bore is very good, 4/5, shiny with solid rifling and only the very slightest indications of pitting. The bolt is good and bolt face very clean with minor wear. The receiver action is stiff but mechanically functions as it should as do the trigger and safety. This rifle has NOT been test fired by us.
All hardware (screws, sling mounts, etc) appears present. This rifle does come with a canvas sling which may not be original to rifle.
