This Swiss Model 1889 bayonet made by Machinenfabrik Bern is in good condition. The serial number matches to Schmidt Rubin Model 1889 rifles in 1891.
This bayonet is in good condition. The blade edge is clean with no dings or rolling. The blade point is a little rounded. There is some minor rust spot staining as well as some scratching and minor wear. The fuller shows minor wear. The blade does show discoloration from wear in the scabbard on the bottom and ricasso. The hand guard is good but has rust staining and pitting on the top and bottom. The grip is good with no cracks in the wood and very minor scratching. The pommel shows rust and the bottom has darkened.
This bayonet comes with a scabbard and frog. The scabbard is good and may have been refinished at some point. There are a few minor dings and rust spots on scabbard. The buckle strap has torn off. The frog is good with wear. The stitching is all intact.
Of note is the Frog which is not of the 1889 pattern. The Frog is dated 1882 and was probably reused from something prior.
