This is a U.S. Army M1943 Folding Shovel Entrenching Tool with Cover. All items appear original WWII issue and are dated 1944.

The shovel is in very good condition. There is paint loss and wear at the shovel tip and the collar nut.  No visible rust.  The wood handle does show minor hairline cracks in a number of places. Most pronounced crack is at the bottom handle.  None of the cracking has grown to the splitting stage.  Wood is mostly just dry cracking.

The Canvas OD Green shovel cover is also in very good condition.  Stitching is solid throughout.  Rivets are solid but there is green oxidation present around most of the rivets.  Snap is solid to the canvas. Cover include original belt hooks.
