This is an original surplus U.S. Military leather spare parts/tools box for the Browning Automatic Rifle (B.A.R. M-1918 A2 MACHINE RIFLE M-1 Browning Automatic).
It could be carried in a B.A.R. magazine pouch or with a strap. This model is not cut for belt mount but does have a hole on each side that could be used for a carry strap. There are also a pair of dimples on the back that possibly had been from some belt attachment.
This small leather case is in very good condition. The metal rivets do show green oxidation The stitching is solid with only a couple small frays. The leather is still fairly supple and shows no cracking. There is minor wear and some scuffing on the leather.
