Description

For sale is an original 9mm Luger made by DWM for the Dutch. Only 3820 were made for this contract .
Wood grips and wooden magazine floor plate – blued finish

This is a very interesting example of a Luger made by (Deutsche Waffen and Munitionsfabriken) Berlin. The top half of the Luger is a 1928 Dutch East Indies model. However the frame does not match and is a different model.  The barrel serial number is in the correct location and within the serial number range for this.

The lower frame is a very low serial number and does not feature the grip safety. It also has a rear lug. The wear is even on both the top receiver and lower frame so it begs the question just how long these two sections have been together. Maybe the repair or swap was made early on.

History

The 1928 Dutch East Indies model was a military Luger ordered by the Dutch in 1928. It was a 1906-pattern pistol and among the last produced by DWM, which made most of the contract. The remaining pistols were later produced by Mauser after it acquired DWM in 1930. Despite earlier assumptions, the model was not intended for Dutch Air Force use.

Condition

For sale is a Dutch contract Luger pistol chambered in 9mm Luger. The pistol is in fair condition. Mechanically the pistol seems fine and does pass a function test (We did not test fire the pistol) There is heavy wear on the pistol.
Blueing finish is about 60% intact throughout the pistol with most of the surface wear being on the barrel exterior. There is some surface rust and patina, this could be cleaned with oils and a brush. Some of the surface metal has pitted.
The wood grips are in good condition full of the original finish and intact.
The magazine floor plate is intact but quite worn. Magazine and spring feel okay – surface wear is present on the outside.

The bore on this Luger is good. We note good rifling throughout the barrel but there is some light pitting and carbon. Likely it would clean and make a good shooter. 3.5/5 bore.
