Swiss M1875 Sawback Pioneer Sword (sawback sword) made by Gebrueder Weyersberg in Solingen Germany.
Black checkered grips secured by 5 brass rivets. Slight scratch on one grip side. Brass pommel and crossguard tarnished.
Steel sawback blade is full and measures 19 3/4″ up to the brass hilt with fuller on one side of blade only.
The blade is marked with GEBR.Weyersberg and Swiss cross in octagon on one ricasso and 3022 over 80 on the other.
Blade is very stained with black spots across both sides of blade. All teeth on saw present. Blade edge has two very minor dings to edge.
Scabbard has no markings. Brass ferrule at end of scabbard heavy tarnish. The upper leather very old and cracking. The upper frog has a buckle that is rusty and is of the type that would have secured an additional scabbard for bayonet. There is no bayonet and no bayonet scabbard included.
