This is a U.S. Army M1910 Khaki Canvas Map Case dated 1921. What makes it interesting is that it contains maps of the Fort Bragg area (printed and hand drawn) as well as documents for training exercises on 21 July 1941. Less than five months after this was used the U.S. would enter WWII.
The case itself is in good condition. There is wear as well as some stains and discolorations. Stitching is solid. The metal hooks and snaps show wear but no obvious rust. The plastic inside grid has yellowed with age. The case has hand writing on inside flap for: 1st. Lt. Reeves 1 sb. Bm. 39.
The maps and documents are extremely brittle. Caution should be taken in handling the enclosed maps/documents. There is one printed map of the Fort Bragg area. There are two hand drawn maps referencing the printed map and area. The three page document is for:
HEADQUARTERS BLUE FORCES (struck over with Xs)
HEADQUARTERS 39TH INF REENFORCED
21 JULY 1941
This appears to be documenting a war game training exercise between Blue and Red that took place on July 24th-25th of 1941.
